Artists wanted: St. Regis Mural Mixed Media Competition

Are you a painter, photographer, or mixed media artist? With demolition and redevelopment on the horizon, we’re looking for Winnipeg’s best to preserve the beauty of the St. Regis Hotel for generations to come!

Fortress Real Developments Inc. and Edenshaw Developments invite artists from across Winnipeg to enter the St. Regis Mural Mixed Media Competition, capturing the mural on the St. Regis Hotel through their lens and preserving it for the future. With plans in place to demolish and replace the St. Regis Hotel with a new parking structure with ground floor retail, we want to take this opportunity to highlight and feature what has been a historic feature in downtown Winnipeg for many years.

President and CEO of Fortress Real Developments said it best: “When it came to tearing down the St. Regis we wanted to make sure we didn’t completely wipe out historical reference to the building. We decided to honour the building by highlighting a prominent feature, the mural, and inviting local artists to submit their version of preserving the history through the mixed media competition. We are excited to see the creativity that stems from this and look forward to displaying a piece of this historical building in the newly imagined space.”

Competition Details:

Deadline to enter – 5:00pm on September 15th 2017

After all submissions are made, a judging event will be held in the fall where a panel of judges made up of local influencers and our development team will select one or more winners.

The winning artwork(s) will be submission displayed in the lobby space of the newly constructed building with full name recognition. Please submit your interest to enter no later than August 31, 2017 to Full rules and regulations can be found here.
